If you’re anything like me, you will find yourself at the back of a long queue in a department store on Christmas Eve, clutching a bunch of items you hurriedly picked out whilst rushing through, trying desperately to convince yourself that the recipients will enjoy the gift.

Fortunately there are other, better, ways to do your Christmas shopping. On November 27th Chiltern Street is staying open from 5pm until late, making it the perfect place for those preferring to wander around one of London’s finest boutique shopping streets with a cup of mulled wine, safe in the knowledge that Christmas Day is still a few weeks away.

There will also be a host of special offers – including 20% off Bharti Vyas and a complimentary Bay Run herbal soap with purchases over £50 at Mouki Mou.

Foodies should also be excited by the promise of festive treats being offered by Chiltern Street’s famous foodie hotspots. Traditional Scandinavian delights will be served at Monocle (mulled wine and cinnamon buns for £3) and at the Nordic Bakery. Chiltern Firehouse will also be opening its courtyard for Christmas delicacies from Executive Chef Nuno Mendes.

To top it all off classical Saxophonist Tyler Rix will be performing throughout the evening.

However, if none of the above appeals, I’ll see you on Christmas Eve.

After his success with Q Grill over the summer, Des McDonald has opened Le Chalet, a winter Alpine-style take of his summer pop-up.

Having opened on 22nd October, the wintery pop-up will run until late February. Inspired by the shared food of adventurers on mountainous expeditions, the winter retreat serves seafood and BBQ dishes with fondues and other comfort food that will see you through the winter’s harshest month.

For any of you lucky enough to visit, the legendary black forest cheesecake is not to miss.

All in all it is the perfect place get into the feel of Christmas whilst enjoying the best that the season offers – quality winter food with a stunning view of our great capital.

Hosted by urban contemporary art gallery Imitate Modern, The Dotmaster’s TRASH ‘n’ CASH opens on 10th November, running until 29th November.

TRASH ‘n’ CASH is an acute social commentary highlighting the stark contrast between the homogenisation of society and the success of individual brands along a rising identification with certain celebrities.

The exhibition features a mix of media artwork. It has the feel of an art installation, with works bleeding from their frames and painted directly on walls. One part ‘ The Money Shot’ makes use of legal tender to directly mock our concept of value and asks the question ‘What is the cost?’

Although TRASH ‘n’ CASH is a gallery show, we also look forward to seeing the ‘Rude Kids’ graffiti series throughout London, in the build up to the exhibition.

Finally a bit about Dotmaster: The heavyweight street artist possesses a typically British sense of humour combined with a healthy dose of cynicism. His daring street stencilling has earned him a formidable reputation. The Dotmaster exhibits internationally having been invited to partake in Banksy’s Waterloo ‘Cans Festival’ and appeared in the Oscar-nominated “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”

We’re back with another Breakfast in Marylebone – today at new to the area 106 Baker Street…

Food – This can be summed up in two words; delicious and healthy (in that order). There are all the continental breakfast staples you might expect like croissants and pastries, however they also offer their own take on a number of classics. I enjoyed a couple of omelettes-in-buns; one with kale and avocado and another with mushroom, tomato and parmesan (a personal favourite). This was followed up with beetroot cake and carrot cake, a great way to finish a very healthy yet filling meal.

Drink – Besides the regular tea and coffee, the place prides itself on its good range of fresh own pressed juices and smoothies – our fresh green juice and almond milk, blueberry and banana smoothie both went down a treat.

Sights – Modern and spacious with a vintage touch. The large plain coloured walls are decorated with a mismatch of antique furniture, chic mirrors and an impressive collection of wooden ducks. There is also good options for outdoors eating with a small pleasant garden at the back as well as eating out front.

Sounds – The roomy setting gives it a more peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect place if you’re looking for somewhere to grab a quiet breakfast with a newspaper. However a couple of large tables make it equally suitable for larger parties or a communal feeling breakfast.

Timings – Open from 7.30AM until 7PM, it is best to get there before 10:30 for breakfast – or else the more popular items might all be gone.
