It looks like winter has arrived in full force this afternoon in Marylebone and is here to stay. Now having to admit defeat, we are keeping all of this weekends suggestions of what to do in London inside!

London Cocktail Week

Still running till Sunday this is a must. The team has been participating every night and you can see our cocktail week so far here. You can grab a wristband from Seven Dials for £10 and with this visit some of Marylebone’s top bars for a £4 cocktail (we can see this getting addictive). We will be doing a cocktail a night in Marylebone, so keep coming back to see our final reviews!

London BFI Film Festival

Entering its 57th year the BFI Film Festival is back. With a world-renowned line up and already having been opened by Tom Hanks’s latest film Captain Phillips it is sure to be quite the festival. An early pick by our team has to be Parkland, a feature film about ordinary people caught up in the Kennedy assassination.

The Pop Up Flea

Coming to St James’s this weekend, NYC’s famous trendy flea shop is going to have all those winter coats you need for the changing weather. Featuring some top reclaimed designers it is certain to bring a touch of shabby chic to St James’s.

London Cocktail WeekOh for the weekend… crossing into October this weekend marks the beginning of the very exciting London Cocktail Week. Kick back and enjoy this weekend’s recommendations:

London Cocktail Week

The team have been excited about this one all week (as you can imagine), we thought we would slip it in for the weekender even though it starts on Monday. You can grab a wristband from Seven Dials for £10 and with this visit some of Marylebone’s top bars for a £4 cocktail (we can see this getting addictive). We will be doing a cocktail a night in Marylebone, so keep coming back to see our reviews!

Drive in Cinema

You may be a little bored of Odeon in Marble Arch, or you may just want to pretend you are a member of the cast of Grease. This weekend the Barbican is hosting a drive through cinema, complete with wireless headphones and American/Mexican food to your window. With a wide range of films, it sounds like a fairly surreal experience for the centre of London.

Kerb – Food Festival

King’s Cross continues its summer of top London events with Kerb. Celebrating it’s first birthday this is a real curb side eating experience, having moved from Peckham it is another great steal for the King’s Cross crowd. Hosting some of London’s best known pop ups and roadside eating experiences it will be quite an event. Particularly worth checking out: The Ribman and You Doughnut.

Open House

This weekend buildings across the capital are opening their doors to the public, and more importantly right here in Marylebone! This is a great chance to see into buildings you walk past everyday but never have had the chance to go into. In Marylebone RIBA, 55 Baker Street, Home House, The Oriental Club,  The Royal Academy of Music and Wigmore Hall all are opening their doors.

Belle Epoque

This Saturday Belle Époque, a join venture between Bourne and Hollingsworth and Torture Garden Project, bring to the Bloomsbury Ballroom a Dark Circus Party. Complete with acrobats and trapeze artists this is both a party and a show. You can even get a cocktail!

London Fashion Weekend

The big players may have headed to Milan, but this weekend is the turn of retail fashion to set this year’s trends at Somerset House. This is a chance for you to not only watch a catwalk show, but also to buy the clothes you are seeing straight after.  Make sure you are there to keep up with the latest collections, no doubt soon to be seen on Marylebone High Street!

Notting Hill Carnival

Running since 1966 Notting Hill is taken over with the sites and sounds of the Caribbean. With over 40 static sound systems, dancers, floats and hundreds of food stalls the event normally attracts close to 1 million visitors. Sunday is kids day and Monday is the main parade. So get a taste of the Caribbean in Central London, Monday is going to be hot!

In the centre of the big city a taste of urban ‘village’ life is being turned into a fair on the Southbank. With stalls representing the traditional to the modern the event is focused on the diverse and creative nature of our urban village.

London Ciderfest

It’s been a fairly muggy week in our great capital, with the weather struggling to decide between summer, British summer and the end of summer. Here are a few weird and wonderful events to keep everyone entertained this weekend:

From the Ground Up – Lego Building in London

This weekend at the Royal Academy, as part of the Inside Out festival celebrating the work of architect Richard Rogers, there is a free Lego exhibition where budding engineers and architects can rebuild the London skyline, making use of over 70,000 coloured lego bricks!

Beach Rugby in Covent Garden

After beach volleyball in Horse Guards Parade, how about beach rugby in the Covent Garden Piazza? This Friday and Saturday there is a tournament taking place on the sand. Get down and have a watch – we definitely would rather be spectators than competitors!

Travel Photographer of the Year

The Royal Geographic Society are having their annual competition to find the best travel photographer of the year. The exhibition is open until 7pm on Sunday and is just across the park. It may even inspire you to book yourself a winter escape.
