La Portegna, the luxury Spanish homemade luxury leather goods brand, has opened a flagship London store on Marylebone High Street. The store, which is located in the former Jack Wills unit, is the brand’s first venture outside of Madrid.
The brand is much lauded for their range of travel products, manufactured by hand in Spain. Their range of leather slippers, made from two pieces of stitched leather, draw plaudits from all over the world.
Owner Jose Urrutia was inspired by the travels of his grandparents in the thirties and forties. The name ‘Portegna’ was the name given to European émigrés to South America during the early 20th century and this rich vein of tradition can be seen throughout the brand’s goods.
Recent visitors to the recently opened store include Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin who popped in to look at this year’s summer collection.
