Long stay residences in the heart of Marylebone

apt-6-living-roomThe concept of long stay accommodation is nothing particularly new to London, but its popularity certainly seems to be on the rise. In the past year, Marylebone has seen two such properties open – both offer luxury serviced residences for visitors looking to stay in the heart of Marylebone Village in an informal and relaxed environment, whilst maintaining many of the perks of hotel living.

Living Rooms MaryleboneThe most recent addition to the neighbourhood is Living Rooms. Launched this month by the same team behind Mayfair’s boutique hotel No.5 Maddox Street and the Europa House Apartments in Little Venice. They took over their new property at 56 Welbeck Street towards the end of its refurbishment by Howard de Walden Estates before putting the final touches to an already beautiful house. Now split into 7 extensively furnished and stylish apartments, 56 Welbeck Street offers visitors the chance to stay in a property that is both elegant and homely. Living Rooms have a minimum stay of 90 days for each of their new apartments, whilst targeting a range of customers – from creative and corporate industries to those house hunting in the area and needing somewhere to stay that feels like home, whilst still providing some of the benefits and features offered by a hotel through their concierge service based at No.5 Maddox Street.

AKA West EndLiterally around the corner from Welbeck Street is AKA West End. AKA are already well established in the United States, with properties in L.A, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC. Their first London property opened in Bentinck Street in October 2012 and provides a very similar luxury stay residence to Living Rooms, but with more of an emphasis on hotel services. With staff and a concierge service located on site, AKA West End offers small but important details such as electronic keycards, security safes in rooms, a huge number of international satellite TV channels, independent high speed business internet to each residence and even US, European and UK electricity sockets built into the walls. Concluding that AKA West End is well thought through would be an understatement. Even the solid stone front steps at the entrance have been engineered to convert into a wheelchair lift, providing easy access to the specially designed disabled access apartment on the ground floor. After 8 months in Marylebone, AKA have also launched a LIVE IT! program to promote ‘wellness and life-enriching opportunities’, making sure their residents get the very best out of their stay in Marylebone. Also worth noting is that AKA West End have the necessary hotel license to accept much shorter stay visitors, although their primary target customers are still those looking for somewhere to stay for a longer period of time than you might in a hotel.
