The Lockhart – Marylebone’s truly authentic Deep South restaurant – is excited to unveil its new all American cocktail bar SHOWDOWN, a residency from London’s leading drinks expert and cocktail guru Matt Whiley, aka ‘The Talented Mr. Fox’.
The cocktails at Showdown will be as carefully thought out as chef Brad McDonald’s Southern food menu – both twisting American classics into something more contemporary and fresh. Matt’s approach to drinks is as off-the-wall as they come – previous cocktails have included a Pig’s Bloody Mary and a Marmite Martini.
Matt and his team have created a bespoke list of cocktails for Showdown focusing on rye and bourbon liquors – in true Southern style. The list is compiled into ‘Sour’, ‘Long’, ‘Strong,’ ‘Tap and Bottle’, ‘Weird’ and ‘Shooters’.
For a refreshing sundowner straight off the mark, there will also be an iced tea cocktail on tap: the “Ice Tee” with milk washed moonshine, maple and ‘lemon’ green tea; as well as some fast-pouring pre-made bottled cocktails including a Sazerac with Woodford rye, sugar, bitters and absinthe.
The cocktail menu is certainly designed to arouse curiosity with inclusions such as “Boilerback” (Woodford Reserve, baby faced ipa pickle juice) and “Pick it Lick it” (rye whiskey, pickled watermelon, house pecan soda). One thing is for certain, your mind will be opened and your taste buds will thank you.
There will be a substantial bar snacks menu, celebrating chef Brad McDonald’s Southern routes. Snacks such as Deviled Eggs and Catfish Goujons, as well as larger plates including Shrimp & Grits and Beef Ribs. Of course not forgetting Brad’s much-loved Cornbread.
