Less than three months after opening in February 2014, André Balazs’ new hotel and restaurant Chiltern Firehouse has been named Tatler’s Restaurant of the Year.
Located in the beautifully converted red brick fire station at 1 Chiltern Street, Chiltern Firehouse is home to head chef Nuno Mendes, previously of Bethnal Green’s Viajante restaurant.
Mendes’ sixteen years spent cooking in the US has clearly left its mark on the menu – think crab-stuffed doughnuts and slow-roasted short rib, all served up from a large open kitchen in an interior that is just as beautiful as the firehouse’s exterior.

– Most Civilised Restaurant (Runner Up) – Caffé Caldesi
