Marylebone Christmas Lights 2014

Confession time… Last week we had our first batch of mince pies at Marylebone Online HQ. Ashamed? Absolutely not.

Wizzard rings out on the radio for the first time, Selfridges Christmas window displays manage to surpass all previous opulence, mulled wine flows freely and most importantly: the Marylebone Christmas lights are switched on. This year’s Christmas spectacular, organised by Howard de Walden Estate, is in support of disability charity Scope and promises to be a festive, community affair.

When: 19th November 2014 – 3.30-6.30pm
What: Christmas market, food, fun, Santa’s grotto, reindeer zoo and more!
Where: Marylebone High Street

The annual switch on of the Christmas lights has become an event to look forward to for all the family. As Marylebone High Street and the surrounding area turns into a Christmas Market, expect a mouthwatering list of food & drink, highlights of which might include Fishworks’ oyster shucking stand and La Fromagerie’s infamous toasted cheese sandwiches – be sure to come along with an empty stomach. There’s also set to be a selection of children’s activities to prepare the little ones for Santa’s arrival and a range of retailers to spark your Christmas gift inspiration.

Despite the understandable excitement around the reindeer petting zoo and Santa’s grotto, the star of the show is the Christmas Lights turn on itself; this year award winning actress Jessica Hynes, star of Twenty Twelve and W1A, is set to do the honours.

So get you hats and gloves ready, cross your fingers for a rain free afternoon and clear your schedule from 3.30pm – 6.30pm on 19th November. You’ll find us enjoying a mulled wine or two and enjoying the best of Christmas in Marylebone.
