Breakfast in Marylebone – Chiltern Firehouse

In part 2 of our search for Marylebone’s best breakfast, we visit Chiltern Firehouse – the celebrity hot house that’s been causing quite a storm since it opened on Marylebone’s now oh so trendy Chiltern Street…

Food – From buttermilk pancakes to eggs Benedict and smoked salmon to fried eggs, you’d be hard pressed not to find something that takes your fancy. We can vouch for the spiced crab omelette (the personal favourite), as well as the vanilla porridge and breakfast pastries.

Drink – We saw off two as-close-to-perfect cappuccinos each with our pastries, alongside a fresh orange juice and a smoothie consisting of seasonal fruits, greens and almond milk (arguably the only healthy part about our breakfast).

Sights – We didn’t spot anyone worth noting on our visit (or at least that we recognised). Guests ranged from hotel guests, to those closing that early morning business deal, to those just there for the experience. Including one family of tourists who just couldn’t stop taking photos… The white jackets of the maitre d’s are also hard to miss.

Sounds – Seated at the bar around the open kitchen, we could listen in on chefs and kitchen staff getting ready for the day’s lunch service, as well as the occasional whisper of the friendly and highly attentive waiting staff.

Timings – Weekdays breakfast from 8am, Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11am.
